    How booking works

    1. Pick your dates and a carThe calendar shows what's free. Book at least 2 weeks ahead, up to 12 months out.
    2. Send a requestSign in or create a free account, then send the request. No payment is taken online.
    3. TMR confirmsTMR confirms by email or phone, and the car is reserved for you. You'll get TMR's driver contract to sign online from your account.
    4. Register for your eventYou're responsible for registering for the event yourself and paying the entry fee directly with the organizer (SCCA, NASA, Lucky Dog, or your HPDE provider).
    5. Arrive and driveThe car shows up prepped, fueled, and race-ready. You bring your driving gear.

    Questions

    Spec Miata or HPDE Miata: which one do I need?

    Spec Miata is a full race car built to the SCCA/NASA Spec Miata rules, for wheel-to-wheel racing. You need a competition license for the race you enter. HPDE Miata is a track-prepped Miata for HPDE (high-performance driver education) events and open track days: lapping with instruction, no racing and no racing license needed. Spec Miatas also run endurance races; endurance programs are priced as a package and quoted per event. Not sure? Start with HPDE, or ask TMR.

    Does TMR register me for the event?

    No. You're responsible for registering for the event yourself. TMR rents cars and provides support. You register with the organizer (SCCA, NASA, Lucky Dog Racing League, or your HPDE provider) and pay your own entry fee there. Signed-in customers see recommended upcoming SCCA SF Region, NASA NorCal and Lucky Dog events, with links to register, on their account page.

    What's included in the day rate?

    For the GR86 Cup and Spec Miatas: the car prepped and inspected, fuel, used tires, data acquisition, pre/post-event prep and standard consumables. The GR86 Cup also comes with a dedicated crew member, in-car video and radios. Each car's details list exactly what's included.

    What costs extra?

    New tires are billed at cost. Transport is $1.50/mile where it isn't included. A dedicated mechanic is $500/day and one-on-one driver coaching is $600/day. A race weekend bills as three days (Friday–Sunday).

    How do the Partner and Anchor rates work?

    Your account counts completed rental days each calendar year. After 5 days you get Partner rates, after 8 you get Anchor rates, on the GR86 Cup and the Spec Miatas. Counts reset January 1. HPDE Miatas are one price for every renter. You'll see your current rate when you're signed in.

    What do I need to bring?

    Driver safety gear that meets your event's rules (typically helmet, head and neck restraint, and fire suit), plus your event registration (you're responsible for registering and paying the entry fee with the organizer) and any license the event requires.

    Why do I need 2 weeks' notice?

    Each car is inspected, prepped, and transported for your event. Two weeks gives the crew time to do that properly. For something sooner, call (650) 669-9469 and TMR will tell you what's possible.

    What does "Pending request" on the calendar mean?

    Someone has asked for that car on those dates but TMR hasn't confirmed yet. You can still send a request as a backup.

    Booking for a company or a group?

    Corporate training, group days, endurance programs, and crewing are quoted per client. Send a quote request with your group size and dates.
